Duel 1966

This imaginary bas-relief pays particular homage to the fierce competition between Ford and Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1966.

The bas-relief illustrates the famous and spectaclar start with the pilots running to their car.

In the foreground, the Ford GT40 number 2 who won the race, driven by McLaren and Amon,  starting at the 4th qualifying position.

Just behind, the Ferrari 330 P3 Spyder number 27, driven by Rodriguez and Ginther, starting at the 5th qualifying position as the fastest Ferrari during qualification.

Ultimately Ford won for the first time, as it was also the first time for an american car. Ford even placed 3 Ford GT 40 on the podium, whilst all Ferrari 330 prototypes abandonned.
